Before Submitting, please read these FAQs. Everything that is done here is legitimate and on the level. The below section will make everything abundantly clear. We do not retain any rights to the songs we publish and there are no contracts. We expect everyone submitting to read and under stand what we are doing here.
Email us LINKS to your MP3s, but DO NOT email the actual MP3s. The links can be sent to GomekRecords@OptOnline.net.
If you need someone to host your MP3s, I would suggest setting up a free account at myspace.com or Garageband.com.

All our downloads are posted with the intention that fans will download them and burn them to CD. We have a four song minimum and really suggest five to eight songs. Our minimum is pretty much what we see as the least amount of songs that would be worth burning to CD. We honestly feel that the more songs you have, the more people are likely to burn and listen to your music, but that is entirely up to you.
No money changes hands. No contracts, the deal is simple: We agree to promote the hell out of your band for free, in exchange you allow our users to download your songs at no charge. As far as I'm concerned, everyone wins. We also try as much as possible to drive traffic to your site and promote your merchandise.
Sure we do, provided that we are getting the entire release. If we are not getting the entire release then we ask for at least three unreleased tracks, be it live, demo versions or otherwise. (Pretty much the same as you would see on a "single").
The reason we do not accept partial releases is because we consider that a sampler. We don't want people to burn our downloads only to find the exact same tunes and more on another release and thus have wasted their time downloading and burning from our site.
GOOD RECORDINGS. I've heard crap out of studios and live recordings that blow my mind. We don't care where you record, or for how much, as long as it sounds GOOD. (Studios are usually a good bet BTW, boom boxes are not)
As far as style, we are looking for anything brutally heavy. Hardcore, Death Metal, Doom, Gindcore, and Sludge, is all a good bet. NO Hair Metal, Heavy Metal or Power Ballads. (honestly we don't even really like long instrumental 'let's try and show we're talented' intros.)
Yes and no. If you don't have any artwork we will get you some. We also don't want any really cheesy art work. In reality gomek.com is (among other things) going up against illegal sites with all the professional art and music you can imagine. Only by presenting ourselves in the same manner do I think we can win out and develop a decent following for both our site and the bands on it.
We promote this site and the bands on web-zines, message boards, with tape traders and on fliers. Currently we are getting between 100 and 200 hits a day and that number is steadily growing. All our bands are featured prominently on our homepage and that's (in my humble opinion) pretty good promotion.
Behind every metal signing is a WELL CIRCULATED demo. If you think Metallica made a ton of money on their 'No life till Leather' demo you are probably on a lot of drugs. Without that demo though, there's no Megaforce contract and without that there's certainly no Elektra deal.
Not Sold? I have two words for you: Grateful Dead.
We believe this is the direction the record industry is going. It is the most cost effective and easiest way to market your music; period.
Simple. This site is being run by people in bands and who are fans of the music. We came up with this when we saw all the publicity and fans "signed" bands were getting from Napster, Tapetrader.com and torrent sites and we asked ourselves how we could get into that. Ultimately though, the intention in doing gomek.com is to be a place for people to find music and for music to find people (as cheesy as that sounds).
Torrents are a safe and easy to use peer to peer program that allows everyone to share a set of files. In this case the the Gomek library.
Gomek was the world's largest saltwater crocodile. When I was looking for a name for this site I happened by some footage of Gomek sitting on a lakeside in Florida. He wasn't running around or snaping or anything of the sort. Just sitting there looking every bit the part of the godfather of the swamp (which he clearly was). I only hoped our site could be so cool.
Sadly Gomek died on died on March 6, 1997. If you google his name you will find many references to him (as well as a few for this site, of course).
